Notice

The law gives you the right to join the Union. By joining the Union, you support the Union’s collective bargaining efforts. These efforts have led to higher wages, better health care and pensions, fairer discipline, better working hours, and many other improvements. Union dues from all represented employees help ensure that the Union can continue improving your employment. The law also lets you decline to be a Union member. Further, subject to limitations, the law allows nonmembers in Missouri to object to paying amounts that are not germane to the collective bargaining process. Expenses that are germane to the collective bargaining process include negotiating, enforcing, and administering the collective bargaining agreement; meeting with employer representatives; participating in the grievance and arbitration process; servicing bargaining units; administering the union; and other related matters. An objecting nonmember must write to the Union’s Recording/Corresponding Secretary at 6601 Winchester Avenue #280, Kansas City, Missouri 64133 (or the successor address which can be found at the local’s website https://iuoelocal101.org/) that they object to paying full dues and provide the objector’s home address. Once the Recording/Corresponding Secretary receives the objection, the Recording/Corresponding Secretary will provide the objector with the proper procedures and/or respond further. Those renewing their objections must do so in the month of January every year. Please be advised that nonmembers cannot: vote on the terms of a collective bargaining agreement; participate in the negotiation process; nominate or vote for local union officers; attend Union meetings; serve as a steward; vote to authorize a strike; and take advantage of numerous other benefits that are only available to members. Additionally, should you decide against becoming a union member, you will not be eligible for, and may lose, benefits from the Coalition of Labor.  We can only achieve our goal of a better working environment with the help and input of all the employees represented by the Union—including you. We urge you to stand with the Union and support our efforts for a more just workplace.

IUOE 101 does not permit copyright infringing activities and infringement of intellectual property rights on its website, and IUOE 101 reserves the right, but does not assume the obligation, to remove any content from the website if notified that such content infringes on another’s intellectual property rights.
